About
Annette & Denice
“We really wanted to keep the integrity of an authentic Australian Beach Shack – with the operative word – Shack”. “Growing up on the York Peninsula, farmers went to Black Point after harvest for a week's holiday and occasionally visited during the year. It was always touch and go to see if harvest could be done and dusted by New Year's Eve so we could join friends and family along the beach at night. Those shacks were fibro, painted in faded pastel colours with thin walls and usually an outside loo. Mattresses were horsehair and a nightmare to sleep on, especially with salt-crusted skin and a touch of sunburn”
Annette
Annette is an entrepreneur and builder of things. Her happy place is in her veggie garden, at the beach, and popping on her toolbelt to fix things – Annette’s mind is always churning with new ideas and designs. She loves to start businesses and invent things. A few years ago Annette hosted Airbnb guests in a purpose-built apartment in my Medindie home - after renovating that home, she has sold and moved to another house. Sago fed Annette’s reno bug :)
Denice
Denice is an incredible cook, dressmaker, and crafter. She never sits still and always has yarn, fabric, and string at the ready to make lampshades, macrame, and garden ornaments. Denice has made most of the bits and bobs in her home including the outdoor kitchen, chairs, and artwork (yes, she is also a really good painter!). A Home Economics teacher by trade, Denice is heavily involved in her local community, even winning Citizen of the year! With 2 Airbnb's in Meningie, Denice has over 15 years experience hosting guests for long and short stays.
